F23 (W1): Fall CSA is Here!
Dear CSA Members + Farm Community,
Welcome to week one of the Fall CSA season! We’re so excited to start the third session of our CSA off. This is a truly magical time of year for veggies: you’ll be seeing late plantings of summer favorites (okra, peppers, cucumbers, squash, beans), alongside the return of greens, sweet potatoes, and other root crops. Get ready to celebrate the last days of summer and the coming of cozy season with us! For new and returning CSA members, a few housekeeping notes:
Please come pick up your share on your chosen day between 4 and 6 pm. Tuesday pickup is at Athens Montessori and Thursday pickup is at Athentic Brewing.
If you can’t make your scheduled time and you know in advance, let us know! We may be able to switch your share to the other day, or accommodate you in another way. If you miss your pickup and don’t have a chance to let us know, no sweat! Tuesday members can pick up missed shares at the Wednesday farmers market at Creature Comforts Brewing, and Thursday members can swing by the Saturday farmers market at Bishop Park. You can also send a friend or neighbor in your place to pick up for you.
If you have questions or concerns about your share, please reach out to diamondhillfarmcsa@gmail.com
If you’re not signed up yet but you want to be a part of the fall fun, there’s still time! Shop around on our website. We have options for weekly veggie boxes and flower bunches, picked fresh by your local farmers! And while you’re at it, maybe consider donating to the share the harvest fund? We’ve raised over $300 so far to help cover part of the cost of the shares for members of the CSA. If we raise $150 more, we’ll have enough to take everyone off the waitlist and get food to our community!
In this week’s share, you’ll get a pint of shishito peppers. 9 out of every 10 of these wrinkly green peps is mild, but every so often you’ll come across one with a bit of heat. They are absolutely delicious charred on a skillet with a sprinkle of salt and a squeeze of lime. If you’re feeling saucy, try roasting them and blending them into a creamy sauce, or chopping them into a zingy mango salsa. Or throw your summer squash in with your peppers to make this super easy stir fry.
Happy eating!
