F24 (W9): Farm Cam Returns
Dear Farm Community -
Ain’t no place we’d rather be on these beautiful October days than on the farm. The weather has just been gorgeous lately, and the crops are by and large looking great. If you’ve been to any of our markets lately, you know that the harvests have been HUGE. Brassicas, leafy greens, and root veggies coming in full force. Flowers have been going strong and there’s no frost danger in sight for at least the next 10 days which means the blooms will keep coming! Aside from herculean efforts harvesting, we’ve been spending our days planting out the fields with more cool weather and over-winter crops. This past week we planted out more brassicas and got some more over-wintered flowers set up for success - snapdragons and dianthus were planted out and this week we’ll plant out our foxglove. This beautiful weather is also perfect for getting our greenhouses outfitted for the cold, so this week we plan to put on the removable walls that will help us button them up tight.
This week we also got FARM CAM FILM BACK!!!!! For those of you who are new to the game, let me introduce the farm cam… a little rough-n-tumble point-and-shoot film camera that floats around the farm. We love capturing little slices of farm life and it’s always a blast to get these shots back! Here are some of our favorites from this round!!
1. farmer emma at the (literal) “height” of tomato season
2. farmer carolyn seeding trays of fall brassicas in the seed house
3 & 4. farmers foster and jackson sporting flower crowns
5. happy birthday lunch for farmers reid and jackson
6. feats of strength
7. farmers erin & carolyn sharing some mornin’ tea
8. farmer bekah gets the “most inspiring lunch of the day” award for “three eggs in a cardboard box”
9. group photo because it was a really hot day and we survived
10. farmer alex with a framed press photo of dennis rodman from the 1990’s
11. scuffle hoe-in’ party
12. zinnia field at sunset
13. grillmaster magz at the autumn farm party
14. diamond hill farmers & co at the athens farmers market fall feast!
15. farmer anna atop her trusty steed

Hope you loved looking at these fun lil pics! Farming is such a fun, dirty, silly, difficult, rewarding, wonderful journey and it’s even better when we can look back on those moments and smile. Thanks for smiling with us!
We have a fun lil morsel of news for our CSA members too ~ we’re planning an….

CSA MEMBER
RECIPE SWAP & POTLUCK!!!
(say that 10 times fast)
We invite our CSA members to join us on the farm for a recipe swap, bonfire, and potluck on Sunday, November 17th from 5:00-7:00pm! Drinks and s’mores supplies will be on the house but we do request you bring a dish to share! A cozy bonfire will be blazing for gathering around and roasting s’mores. Attendees can RSVP by sending your favorite veggie-inspired recipe(s) to us at diamondhillfarmGA@gmail.com (or sending it in reply to this email). Please include your name and number of attendees - family members and +1’s are welcome! We will gather all of the recipes into one big document to send out after the potluck. Invitations with more details will be included with next week’s CSA shares.

In your shares this week you’ll find a beautiful bunch of french breakfast radishes. This heirloom variety of radish has a relatively mild, sweet flavor compared to your typical salad radish. Lots of people love to eat these radishes raw with a dab of butter and sprinkle of salt. You can cook them up and serve them up for a fancy breakfast with this recipe for savory french toast & breakfast radishes. Or if you want to stick with a salad vibe, add them to a salad of your choosing or use them as your radish of choice in this green salad with radish and a classic vinaigrette.
Bon appétit!
